Role Overview

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics to plan intelligent system layouts
  • Carrying out detailed surveys of BMS and controlled HVAC equipment to identify energy conservation opportunities
  • Assessing the baseline performance of BMS control strategies through interrogation of strategy drawings, O&M documentation and observed operating conditions
  • Identifying and collecting existing BMS logs or setting up new logging to support modelling of potential BMS and HVAC energy savings initiatives
  • Installing and commissioning BMS control panels and associated field devices with precision
  • Integrating HVAC components such as fire dampers, kitchen extract systems and fan units into the BMS network
  • Producing accurate system diagrams and hand-drawn schematics for bespoke automation setups
  • Designing and costing BMS energy saving initiatives for EPC tenders, high level assessments and investment grade proposals in collaboration with our BMS sub-contractor supply chain
  • Creating, reviewing and obtaining client approval of BMS design deliverables such as control philosophies, risk assessments, method statements and impact assessments
  • Working closely with project delivery teams and sub-contractors to ensure BMS initiatives are delivered to agreed specifications, on time and within budget
  • Supporting the commissioning, witness testing and handover of delivered BMS energy saving projects
  • Conducting performance tests to verify system functionality, optimise energy efficiency and support measurement and verification of guaranteed savings
  • Supporting site preparation tasks, including fixing containment and mounting hardware
  • Applying your technical expertise to troubleshoot on-site faults, connectivity issues and control strategy anomalies
  • Collaborating with colleagues and clients to meet project goals, deadlines and quality standards

Location & Hours:

  • You will work on projects primarily across the North West. 
  • The role may occasionally require travel and overnight stays. 
  • You must be flexible to work both day and twilight shifts. 
  • Twilight shifts run four nights a week, from 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM. This gives you Fridays off and an excellent chance for a long weekend. 

Experience/Qualifications: 

  • You have proven experience installing and commissioning Building Management Systems, including sensor integration, control panel wiring and network connectivity
  • You can confidently work from both mechanical and electrical drawings, producing accurate schematics for intelligent system layouts
  • You have a solid understanding of HVAC control logic, Fire Damper integration and Kitchen Extract automation within BMS frameworks
  • You are self-motivated and capable of making sound technical decisions when working independently
  • You hold a valid CSCS card and consistently uphold health and safety procedures on active construction sites
  • You possess strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills, especially with system diagnostics and programming tools
  • Experience with energy optimisation and system validation testing is highly valued
  • NVQ qualifications in Electrical Installation or BMS Controls are desirable, and we are committed to investing in these after a successful probation period

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft software packages including, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Full UK driving licence
